A surface coverage system featuring unique true to life online visual design tools

- "Real and Virtual" surfaces exhibit -

meshglass, an innovative new design solution for interior and exterior surfaces. Made of stained glass pieces mounted onto an all-but-invisible fiberglass mesh, meshglass is custom-designed for each individual application. Contour friendly panels may be employed to cover vast uneven areas such as swimming pool bottoms and coved ceilings, and used in smaller quantities it functions as bathroom tiles, borders or kitchen stove backsplash.

The streamlined technology that characterizes both the meshglass product and the process by which it’s conceived speaks of its role at the forefront of efficient modern design. Users of meshglass need no special skills to ensure its success. meshglass’ seamless fields and borders on fiberglass mesh may be installed directly into white cement surfaces without grout.

A tremendous benefit for specifiers of the products is the lack of display space needed—a simple computer monitor will do. Versatile in application and appearance, meshglass features glass pieces in all colors with everything from matte finishes to reflective, and mirror surfaces. Replicating the geometric precision of an antique quilt or the fluid contours of an abstract color field painting is equally feasible in terms of design. A logo or favorite photograph may also be reproduced, using a color-by-number-type function.

The exhibit highlights the unique properties of meshglass, its composition of freely available materials, environmental friendliness, fade-resistant color, resistance to fire and water, ease of installation, and the overall savings it offers in terms of time and money over more traditional tiling products. But perhaps an equally impressive aspect of meshglass which will provide the focus of the exhibition is the method by which specific designs are created: An interactive software program will allow clients to “build” patterns, from random mosaics to geometries, using a myriad of shapes. A version of this highly efficient design system is already featured on the company’s website (www.meshglass.com), and projected images of the process will furnish the backbone of the display at Material ConneXion.

meshglass creator Duncan M Kirk, a pioneer of the laser printing technology and a fashion and accessory designer, is satisfied with his endeavour to create and produce an eco friendly product with a new design and manufacturing process.
